The writer of Hebrews encourages his audience to walk in the new covenant because we are the flawed part of the old covenant. This means instead of relying on ourselves for salvation, we obey, trusting in Jesus for salvation, but we also do not throw out the entire OT and the law, because its covenant is no longer enforced.
